Sanghyun Yoon adds a unique glaze to the traditional form of moon jars. Consequently, not only does he focuses on the contemporary trend of moon jars, but also on the future movement of Korean ceramics.
The glaze made by mixing cobalt and copper ingredients shields the full shape of the moon jar, forming crystals that are reminiscent of stars in the night sky.
Like the title of his 2021 exhibition "Blue Sky, Milky Way, White Porcelain", the artist's work stimulates nostalgia that exists in one's fractures of memory and finds its growing place in one’s heart.
